Powells Cottage Holidays are delighted to continue as the main sponsor for the Saundersfoot New Years Day Swim. The new jersey, designed with support for Team GB at the Olympics, was officially launched last week.

Following earlier articles we are now able to confirm that the new requirement for EPCs on holiday homes will take full effect from June 30th 2011. Therefore you have until that date to comply with the law that is established from April.

The EPC will be valid for 10 years, so there is no real reason to delay.

To assist our valued property owners we have negotiated special rates for Pembrokeshire holiday cottages. To arrange a visit with our recommended chartered surveyor simply call your property manager Jo on 01834 813232. If you would prefer you may email her at joanne@powells.co.uk. Powells Cottage Holidays will then get the ball rolling and make all the necessary arrangements, such as organizing access, on your behalf. Ideal if you live away from the area.

We envisage that most EPCs will cost just £49, so quite a bit less than first thought. Additionally there are no restrictions imposed like minimum surveys per day for you to contend with to secure this price.

Demand however is likely to be high, so please book early to ensure that you can benefit from this offer and still meet the June 30th deadline. Simply give us your instruction and we will arrange everything else for you.

Over the last 26 years, the event has regularly raised in excess of £25,000 for worthy causes.

2011 will hopefully bring more of the same, even in tougher economic times.

This years event has a little more spice as they are running a 'Swim Factor' competition where 8 reluctant locals have been 'persuaded' to brave the icy waters for the first time. Everyone is invited to vote by SMS (raising even more for charities!) and one lucky 'winner' will face the dip on New Years Day. We'll post all the contestants and numbers when we have them (hint: we're voting for Roger Brace!).
